Bureta airport is more commonly known as Levuka, due to it being the only airport on the island
of Ovalau and its main function of serving the old Fijian capital of Levuka, the only town of any
size on the island. In fact it's nowhere near Levuka itself, but whether there is anything at
Bureta other than the airstrip anyway is debatable!
The only time you're likely to come here is if you're taking a flight in or out, which is
lucky as there are only two flights a day anyway, operated by Air Fiji.
Being such a small place, with luck you'll be allowed airside when the plane arrives for some
interesting shots, as long as you're sensible. With a decent long lens the landing on the runway,
literally carved out of the surrounding jungle, can be quite spectacular.
