ex-PLA Air Force Nanchang Q-5 (mod) 31124
(China Aviation Museum, Datangshan - 31 January 2002)
The Nanchang Q-5 is a Chinese development of the basic MiG-19 design for close-air support
and ground attack, with a completely redesigned forward fuselage. It has gone on to become of
the few real success stories of the Chinese aviation industry, with almost 1000 having served
with the PLAAF, as well as being exported to a small number of countries. This example has been
fitted with a new nose, probably in conection with trials of a radar installation. |
