China produced almost as many (unlicensed) copies of the Il-28 (as the Harbin H-5) as Ilyushin did with the original, these including a number of specialised variants. The HJ-5 was a trainer version with the original glazed nose being replaced by a second cockpit. Around 40 are thought to have been built, most (if not all) as conversions from standard bomber aircraft.
